Google Pixel phones are known for their excellent cameras, unique designs, and clean and minimalistic versions of Android. Indians were disappointed for not getting Pixel 4 when it came out in October 2019. However, rumors have it that its successor, Google Pixel 4A, might come to India.
However, we have a lot of differences in this new upcoming model. This is not only regarding an upgrade in its features, but also the reduction in price and variants.
Following are the specifications:
Google Pixel 4 is available in 2 sizes and is double the price. Google has cut down the pricing of 4A by cutting down on 2 things:
The number of size variants: It is not creating an XL variant since smaller phones sell better. Also the cost involved in making a bigger size is greater, whereas this variant is targeted at the mass premium segment.
No Face Unlock: Pixel 4 uses the Soli radar chip for face unlock. It is the reason why it couldn’t release the smartphone in India. However, this phone doesn’t have the technology. Thus, the reduction in cost.
The official release date of this model has not been announced yet. However, a tentative date on which we may expect the Google Pixel 4A to release in India and global markets is 29th January 2020. This may also get delayed to May 2020 if a new report is to be believed.
Please Note: Google has not made any official announcements regarding its upcoming model, Pixel 4A. Google India could not be contacted at the publishing time of this article.
