Last year Netflix released the fantasy web TV series Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. It is a prequel to the magnificent 1982 film by Jim Henson.
The original movie revolved around the world of Thra. Netflix managed to re-create the magic in the ten-episode series around the creatures and battles of Thra.
Gelfling race living on Thra becomes aware of the fact that their overlords, the Skeksis have been exploiting them.
Moreover, they are destroying their world. This leads to a war between the two.
Let’s see if Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 2 will air this year and the possible storyline that it will be based on.
Background
In season one, the three Gelflings, Rian, Brea, and Deet, discover the gruesome secret behind Skeksis’ power.
They inspire others to rebel with them so that they can save their planet from destruction.
It ended with the destruction of the planet, the truth crystal.
About The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 2
Season one of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance ended in a way that it did not leave much for the continuation of season two.
After a few months of hiatus, the creator, Jeffrey Addiss, confirmed that they have concrete substance for season two.
The co-creator Will Matthews also said that he was pretty much hopeful about continuing the series.
Since season one was too labor-intensive for everyone, season two will be no less and worth the effort in the end.
Hopefully, the cost of production will be cut with the already made costumes, puppets, and sets for season 1.
As a fact, about 2,500 hundred people worked on season one.
Season 2 Plot
Season one ended with seven Gelfling clans uniting to fight against the Skeksis.
Gelfling did win the battle of Stone in Wood. But, they have not won the war against the Skesis.
Moreover, the Scientist managed to create a monster called, the Garthim which is powered by the dark crystal.
The monster is the key tool to win the war over the Gelflings to steal their essence. Eventually, this leads to The Garthim War.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 2 Release Date
So, a massive amount of production work, budget, and workforce put in efforts for the first iteration of the show, leading to its release after 27 months of the announcement.
The same will follow for season 2 as well. The work is time-consuming and intricate.
Hopefully, we will get to see it by 2021. The possibility of release earlier than that is quite slim.
It does seem like a long wait for the fans.
