Conjuring 3: Why The Release Got Postponed?

The Horror Franchise Conjuring is enough to give all of us instant chills and goosebumps.

Since the release of its first chapter in 2013, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren have been in constant pursuit.

Their second case based movie came out in 2016, and now they are ready to take on the next one.

Conjuring 3 will be the next movie in the horror franchise. And as per the writers, it will be different than the old haunted house concept.

Conjuring 3 Final Release Date

The threequel of Conjuring was supposed to come out on 11th September 2020.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie has been rescheduled to release on 4th June 2021.

The producers were unsure whether the movie would be able to pull in audiences.

Theatres across major metropolitan cities in the US and the entire world are shut.

Releasing a big banner movie at this time could be a substantial financial risk for the makers.

Sure, fans must be wondering; Why was the movie not released on a streaming service such as HBO Max?

The answer to that is simple. It does not make any financial sense. Theatre releases for franchises such as The Conjuring bring in a huge chunk of overall revenue.

Also, the risk of piracy is exponential and might prove detrimental to the film’s overall revenue-generating capacity.

This is not just with Conjuring, but many movies planned for the 2020 release have been delayed.

Update

Warner Bros have now decided to release the movie simultaneously in theatres as well as on HBO Max.

However, theatre partners are not at all happy with this decision. AMC CEO Adam Aron made the following statement:

Clearly, Warner Media intends to sacrifice a considerable portion of the profitability of its movie studio division, and that of its production partners and filmmakers, to subsidize its HBO Max startup.” He also stated that AMC plans to have discussions with Warner Bros. on the matter.

What will the threequel bring for the audience?

Like the last two installments of the franchise, Conjuring 3 is also based on a real-life incident.

Although there is no video teaser for the upcoming movie yet, we do have information that it will be based on Arne Cheyenne Johnson’s murder trial.

The trial took place in 1981 in Connecticut.

Some behind the scenes action can be seen in the video below.

Conjuring will have the two lead demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

Other than that, we may also get to see their daughter, Judy.

As both the past movies were centered around different families, those characters’ return is totally out of the equation.

Apart from the on-screen cast, there have been some significant changes in the crew.

James Wan has stepped down as the director, and Michael Chaves has taken up this mantle.

Fans must be worried about the fact that James Wan is no longer the director. But, here is the catch, he is still in the Producer’s boots. So, the movie is in safe hands.

As there are almost six months for the movie to hit the big screen, you can binge-watch the previous ones and get a hold of the concept!
