Fix iOS 13 Bluetooth Problems with simple steps

If you’re using a phone with an iOS operating system, most likely, you’ve experienced some difficulties with Bluetooth connectivity. Problems with Bluetooth include not being able to detect or connect to the accessory, stutter and crackling sounds. I’ve had to google the title above countless times, but what I usually get is a cluster of articles that I would have to sieve through to find my answers. Here, I’ve put together a comprehensive step by step guide to troubleshooting your iOS Bluetooth connectivity. However, before you begin these steps, it is essential to ensure that your accessory is not the issue.

These are the simple steps to fix problems relating to Bluetooth connectivity in iOS 13:

Ensure software is up to date

Apple has recognised its Bluetooth issues, particularly where connection disconnects on certain vehicles. Their release of iOS 13.1.2 on September 30th, 2019, comes with a fix to this issue. Therefore, updating the software will solve the problem.

Force restart

Before you restart your device, ensure that your Bluetooth is off (Settings>Bluetooth>OFF).

To restart your phone:

  • iPhone without face ID: Hold Home button, Volume Down and Power button until Apple logo appears.
  • iPhone with face ID: Press and release Volume Up, Press and release Volume Down, and then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

Once your phone restarts, try turning on Bluetooth again (Settings>Bluetooth>ON)

Reset Network settings

  • Go to Settings > General
  • Scroll down to the bottom until you see Reset > Reset Network settings
  • Enter passcode
  • Your phone will reboot automatically and attempt connecting to the device once again.

Forget device

  • Settings>Bluetooth
  • Tap on “I” besides the device name
  • Tap on Forget this Device > Confirm
  • Wait a while before trying to connect again

If you are still experiencing difficulties after following these steps, then you might want to bring your device for inspection at the Apple store.
